UPS Store Notary Services

The UPS Store makes notarizing documents easy. Once notarized, they can also help with copies and shipping—so everything gets where it needs to go.

Why Do Documents Need to Be Notarized?

Documents are notarized to help prevent fraud and ensure they are legally valid. Many legal and financial documents require notarization to confirm that the person signing is who they claim to be and that they signed willingly and knowingly.Because notarized documents often carry significant legal weight, state governments require a trained, impartial official to oversee the signing process. This official is known as a notary public.A notary public is a state-appointed, quasi-public officer who verifies identities, witnesses signatures, and attests to the proper execution of important documents.

Common Documents That May Require Notarization

The following documents frequently require notary services:

  • Wills

  • Trusts

  • Deeds

  • Contracts

  • Affidavits

* Many The UPS Store® locations do not notarize I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification forms or Wills. If you need either notarized, contact your local store in advance to confirm availability.

What to Bring to Your Notary Appointment

To ensure a smooth notary visit, please come prepared:

  • A valid, government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license or passport)

  • All documents must be complete but unsigned (sign in front of the notary)

Witness Requirements and State Laws

Notary laws vary by state. Some documents may require one or more witnesses in addition to notarization. In certain states, a notary public cannot also act as a signature witness.

Because of this, not all The UPS Store locations are staffed to provide witness services. If your document requires witnesses, contact your local store ahead of time to confirm availability.

Important Notary Disclosure

* Available at participating locations. A notary public at The UPS Store location is not an attorney licensed to practice law in your state and cannot:

  • Draft legal documents

  • Provide legal or immigration advice

  • Charge fees for legal services
